Since her days with the tribe, Sarah had always been one with nature. She had always loved the outdoors, and tonight was a perfect night to sit under the stars and meditate. Her legs crossed in a sitting position, "Indian style" as it was called sometimes, her hands on her knees and her eyes closed with hear head held high, she breathed in the fresh night air. She could feel the swaying of the grass, the gentle breeze blowing around in the trees. She could feel the subtle movements of the earth below her, small, natural tremors that she'd learned to harness and use to her advantage through magical means.
Despite the beauty of the setting, that wasn't her reason for coming out tonight. Through her mystical training, she had found a magical ley line that was in danger of being severed. She sat, meditating, but her mind raced, sweat beaded up on her forehead and ran down her face. Her battle had just begun. Her eyes closed tighter, and her concentration deepened. There was no other way to keep the evil at bay. Should she fail, a demon would be unleashed upon the world and would wreak havoc amongst the living world of Sapphire City. Sure, she would be able to stop the demon, and put it back in its hole. But it would be better for her to keep the demon in it's prison and circumvent the impending doom and destruction that a loose demon would cause.
Her concentration was the only thing keeping the demon at bay. She could hear the animal running about, even felt a deer stop beside her and nuzzle her with it's snout. She allowed herself to smile, and run her hand along the length of the deer's nose, but it didn't break her. "Run along now, beautiful," she told the deer in a sweet tone. The deer turned and trotted off. The hero known as Amulet took a deep breath and continued on.
