The entire debacle at the museum still fresh in his mind, the superhero known as Monster couldn't shake his thoughts of the woman he'd met that day. The agents that had brought her to the Thermopylae with them while the hero healed his wounds had been true to his word, and had not mentioned the woman to the director at all. That didn't stop Hale from finding out about her his own way, but Logan had convinced the man to leave her alone. It didn't take much convincing really. Nathan wasn't the sort of man to force someone into something they weren't interested in doing, though he wouldn't usually just cease from at least attempting to convince the person. Now that he was feeling better, it was time for him to go see her, as he'd said that he would. Sunflower Learning Center. He still remembered it as if the words were just coming from her lips.
He decided to go incognito again. It wouldn't do to cause a stir. Hopefully this time he wouldn't get attacked by some crazed villain. He took a shuttle down from the flying command center, then a bus to the school. As he stepped inside he was greeted by a perky young woman who was wearing way too much perfume. "Hi, how can I help you?" He took a quick glance at the ID card clipped to her collar. "Hi, Denise. I'm here to see Ms. Reilly. She teaches here." The young woman smiled and nodded, Logan noted a slight hint of jealousy there. He didn't really understand why. Michelle was gorgeous, maybe that was it. Not that Denise wasn't, but Michelle was a knock out, hands down a fifteen on a scale of one to ten.
With a slight huff, Denise led him down the hallway to the second to last door on the left. She poked her head in the door and took a quick look around the room. Apparently it was nap time for the kids, and Michelle was sitting at her desk. "Michelle," Denise said softly, just loud enough to catch her attention without waking any of the little ones. "You have a visitor," she said as she opened the door further. Logan smiled as he saw the beautiful woman. "Thank you, Denise," he said as he took on step into the classroom and the young woman walked back to the front.

There were a few of her kids that Michelle had to really work on to get them to nap with the others. Luckily by this point in the year they were all used to the schedule, so she was able to enjoy a little more quiet time. She usually spent it cleaning up after whatever the kids were working on, or prepping for the next activity. Today she’d gotten lucky. The kids had tidied up nicely, and she was already prepped for the epic fingerpainting that was going to commence as soon as the tykes were awake again. What did that leave for a gal to do? Nap? No, that wouldn’t do. She decided on a bit of light reading.
So there she was, sitting at her desk with a screen that contained the pages of the latest novel by one of her favorite authors in front of her, when she saw movement at the door from the corner of her eye and heard Denise whispering for her. Trying to draw her attention. She looked up briefly and her eyes widened. When the blonde said that she had a visitor, she never in a million years would have expected it to be HIM. Surely Logan had forgotten all about her, despite the fact that he’d been on her mind rather frequently since their encounter at the museum. No, apparently not. He was really here, at her work. And so soon after what she would have thought was a life-threatening injury. He looked perfectly fine now, though. Wow. The medical capabilities of federal agencies with near-unlimited budgets, she guessed.
Michelle stood up and quickly made her way to the door. “Thank you, Denise,” she told the woman with a smile. It was a sincere thanks, but also a subtle dismissal. Denise got the hint and made her way back to the front desk. Not that Michelle really noticed. Her eyes were locked on her visitor’s face, almost as if she doubted he was real. Some of her students had imaginary friends, after all. Would it be weird if she poked him? Probably. She shouldn’t do that. “Logan, hi…” She was forced to speak rather softly in an attempt to not wake the children, but hopefully her smile told him how happy she was to see him. “How have you been? You look like you’re feeling better.”

Logan was sometimes a little slow on the uptake, so why she was whispering confused him a bit. That was, until he caught a slight glimpse of the sleeping children inside. His shoulders lifted in a slight sigh and he looked at Michelle. He noted the smile and was glad to see it. The last time they'd seen each other had been a very stressful situation, and smiles weren't exactly in abundance then. Of course, that was always true of a fight of that magnitude. Not only that, but the situation after the fight had been pretty rough too. Logan had done everything that he could, along with the agent who'd brought them to the headquarters, to keep Michelle's secret from Nathan.
"Yeah, yeah, I feel much better," he answered in an equally hushed tone. "Can't argue with having the best doctors around, not to mention the insane amount of medical equipment." It always amazed him just how much they could fit in that small-ish room. "There was also a lot of sleep involved," he said with a chuckle. For the past few days, he'd slept at least fifteen hours each. He didn't normally sleep like that, but when someone as tough as him had to let his body heal, that much sleep was considered the minimum. It was at this point that he finally pulled the hood all the way back from his head. She knew it was him now, and if any of the student woke up it wouldn't matter that they saw him. They'd likely be too sleepy to realize that it was him, if they even knew what he looked like.
"How are you doing?" he asked, still in a hushed tone. "You look great." He immediately looked away, but then back to her when he realized what he'd just said. Of course he thought she was beautiful, and of course she knew that, but did he really have to say that so quickly? "Seems like a nice place here. The kids sure do look relaxed," he said with a grin.

“Well, I’m glad. I have to admit I was worried.” Those injuries had looked very serious. Without his natural toughness and those ‘best doctors around,’ she was sure there would have been permanent damage. He might have even died, which was a thought she did not particularly like to entertain. Death was not something she wished on anyone, but Logan especially was someone she was glad was still around. He’d saved her life, and the lives of her students, after all. It was something beyond that, though, that was the reason she was so uncomfortable with the idea of him being hurt. She just couldn’t really put her finger on it right now. Maybe it was the way people spoke about him. Calling him Monster. He’d obviously already been through so much pain, so maybe she just didn’t like the idea of a good man experiencing more than what she deemed to be his fair share of hardship.
Michelle smiled shyly when he asked how she was doing. “I’m doing well. Nothing out of the ordinary here. My days are much less exciting than yours, probably. I’ve got my kids…” she said, tilting her head backward to indicate that she was talking about her students, not any children of her own. “...and then home.” It wasn’t a particularly exciting life. Under normal circumstances, the biggest surprise of her day was usually her picking some new recipe to try to make for dinner. She loved to cook, so new culinary adventures were always welcome in her home.
Hearing him comment on the kids looking relaxed brought a large smile to her face. “They’re great, but definitely not always this relaxed. You should see them when they’re awake and running around. This is a great place to work, though.” Pausing for a moment, she bit her lower lip before continuing. “So… what brings you here? Is everything okay?” He was a busy guy, a superhero. He’d said before that he wanted to see her again, but it was still a surprise that he was here with her, and so soon after their first meeting.

"I usually heal fairly quickly," Logan said with a small shrug. It didn't hurt that Eagle's Nest had the best doctors and the coolest technology to play with. It was a wonder that the organization hadn't cured death yet. The thing about the Monster though was that he wouldn't have minded dying if it meant that he'd saved those kids, and this woman. He was a hero through and through, despite the moniker given to him, despite the sometimes somber moods and valleys of emotion. In many ways, that made him the heart of the team. The Spartans were a bunch of insanely powerful people, himself included, with him being the strongest physically. But for all of his strength he never really looked at it as a gift, at least not in the way that others would. Most other people would have a field day if they could do the things he could do, or worse, they'd turn to selfish, evil intentions.
"Well, I would say that kids can get into some very exciting things." He gave a small smile and a slow nod towards the sleeping kidlets. "So peaceful when they're asleep. But the excitement isn't always that great, I promise you. I'd rather just have a day job and a home life after, sometimes." It was true, but his powers were not a gift at all. They were a responsibility. And that responsibility was to protect those that couldn't protect themselves. Michelle was far from helpless, as he'd seen during the fight at the museum, but still she wasn't one who got out to do what he did. That was no fault on her. It was strangely refreshing to the hero. The truth was that Logan could use a boring day every now and then.
"Oh, I believe it. I've heard that they can be a handful," he answered with a smile. "I'm not equipped to handle that, I don't think." Big superhero afraid of some kids. That had to look appealing....
He was glad that she enjoyed working at this place. It seemed nice, lots of bright colors to stimulate the mind and abstract art pieces on the walls. Abstract? Or just child made? Truthfully Logan couldn't tell. He heard her ask what brought him here, but had luckily for him looked away when she bit her lower lip. That always was an overly attractive look to him. "Well, I did say I would visit. Yeah, everything is good. I haven't been overly busy lately because of healing up and such, but yeah." He shrugged and looked at the clock momentarily. "I, I was wondering. Are you doing anything tonight? If you don't mind, I'd like to take you out. Just a night on the town."

A light chuckle escaped her when he said he didn’t think he could handle a group of kids. “You’d be surprised how quickly the instinct kicks in when they’ve been put in your care. I think it would be fine.” And even if it wasn’t, it didn’t necessarily say anything bad about him as a person. Some men only felt that kind of protective bond with their own children. Some had no desire to be even that involved. It took all kinds to make a village. Logan made a living out of saving the city. Whether or not he had any inclination toward starting a family of his own, she could not doubt his selflessness. He risked his life to protect the entire city as his profession. There was little nobler than that.
A night on the town with Logan. Michelle could think of very little in her life that sounded better than that. Normally she was really bad at telling when a man was trying to ask her out on a date. Totally oblivious was her middle name. Logan made it just obvious enough for her to pick up on it without coming off like a total creeper. Or maybe he just wanted to spend some more time with her but wasn’t thinking of it like a date? Ugh now she was over-thinking it. Totally the opposite of what she was used to when it came to men. “Sure, I’d actually really like that.” Simple response. Keep it cool, Michelle. He was probably used to fangirls surrounding him and the rest of the team. They were the freaking Spartans, the toughest team there was.
The question in her mind now was, what was he planning to do in the meantime? He hadn’t really mentioned a time for them to be getting together yet. Mostly because she’d just barely accepted his offer. “I, umm… I’ve only got a little over an hour left. Usually the kids start waking up soon, then there’s storytime, and then they usually play outside while they wait for their parents to pick them up. I’m usually done for the day around 3:30 or 4. What time were you thinking for us to… meet up?” It would be much easier for them to work out any necessary details now, while the toddlers still slept. She already knew a couple of them were stirring, almost like a sixth sense. “You’re welcome to hang around here until I’m done, of course. I just wasn’t sure if you had other things to do…”

Logan wasn't sure about a family of his own. First of all, where would he find a woman that he wouldn't be afraid that he'd hurt in the throes of passion. There were too many variables in that alone. He was strong enough to tear a person in half without even breaking a sweat. He'd done it before, so he knew it was possible. Hell, he'd seed Glory do it too. Of course, she complained about the blood getting in her hair, but that wasn't the point. There had been times when he'd thought about having kids of his own, but what if those kids developed his powers. If they were as strong as he was eventually, as tough as he was, it would put them in a position that he was in. They'd bear the responsibility of saving the world too. It was something he'd be proud of, but also fearful of.
He smiled when she said she'd actually like that. It was good to hear. Logan didn't have time for dating usually, not that he'd bothered to do so when he did have time. She asked about the time, and he gave a slow shrug. "Yeah, I'm not really doing anything today, so I can hang around if that's cool." He heard the kids stirring too. "So what story are you telling them today?" he said with a smirk. One of the kids stepped out of the room, bleary eyed and rubbing them, starting to say something to Michelle, but then recognized Logan and his eyes went wide, jaw dropping. "How you doing, little man?" Logan asked, and the kid went running back into the room.
Logan looked back when he heard the kid waking the others, an apologetic look on his face. "Sorry. Wasn't trying to rile them up." Sure that Michelle would have to go into the room, he stopped. "Probably best if I meet you back here at four, yeah?" He would stay if she wanted him to, but he didn't want the kids to be too unruly for her to handle. Same time, he didn't want to let the kids down and act like he was too good to come see them. He shook his head. "I got you into this, least I can do is help out," he said as he started into the room.

So he didn’t mind sticking around for a while. Michelle had to admit she was glad. Technically it was probably against the rules, but considering some of the things she’d caught Denise doing in the classroom, she very much doubted anyone would have anything to say about it. And if they did, it would be the first black mark on Michelle’s otherwise stellar work record for this school so nothing really bad would happen. “I was thinking the Three Billy Goats Gruff. It’s one of my favorites,” she replied with a bit of a laugh. It was probably silly and childish for her to have anything resembling a favorite fairy tale like that, but hey… she worked with pre-schoolers. Considering some of the other ridiculously stupid programming she had to deal with on a regular basis, she figured it was good for her to have a few she genuinely enjoyed reading and experiencing over and over. And over. And over. Every year came with a new batch of kids, after all.
Michelle clamped her mouth tightly shut while watching the interaction between Logan and the small boy who was MAYBE half his height. It was seriously one of the most adorable things she’d ever seen. At least the kid seemed excited about who their visitor was, so that hopefully meant he hadn’t seen anything bad about him on tv. She seriously doubted any of the children would recognize him from the day at the museum, given the chaos and Logan’s hooded sweatshirt on that day. By the time things had really gotten bad, the kids had already gotten packed up into the bus and were on their way. Boy was Michelle glad she’d decided to stick around just in case. She didn’t like thinking about how much worse things might have gotten for Logan if she’d left.
At least the kids were waking up now, more or less right on schedule and with minimal effort on her part. “Oh no, the celebrity guest isn’t getting away so easily,” she joked. Taking his hand, she led him further into the room. That was okay, right? He’d asked her on a date, hadn’t he? Maybe the hand thing was too much. She let go after just a moment or two. “Class…” she said, still speaking softly since they were still waking up. “We have a very special guest who’s going to join us for storytime. Everyone say hi to Mr. Logan…”
“Hi, Mr. Logan…” came the chorus of young voices, mostly in unison but punctuated by yawns at random moments.
Michelle sat down on the floor in front of the video pad, with the kids crowding around as well so they could see the projection more easily, but leaving plenty of room for their guest to sit next to their teacher if he decided to sit down too. The hologram would play as she told the story. Including different voices for each character, of course. The big, bad troll was her favorite, since her version of a deep, intimidating voice was comical at best. When it came time for the third and largest billy goat to cross the bridge, she even asked Logan to read the two lines for that part. He was the hero, after all, the one who killed the evil troll. It was a short story, one that just kept the interest of the kids long enough for them to completely wake up but not long enough for them to get fussy. Then they got to go outside and play with the kids from the other classes until the parents came to pick them up. A couple of the little ones stayed behind to ask Logan questions, excitedly tugging at the sleeves of his sweatshirt. Hopefully he wouldn’t mind them bugging him a little. She’d be off work soon enough, and then they could go… wherever he wanted.

Logan didn't mind this at all. The thought of kids had never really occurred to him, even being around them. But he did love children. They were special little human beings, so full of life and a yearning for knowledge. Their general penchant for mischief didn't hurt anything either. It was interesting to see Michelle telling this story, and he couldn't help but let out a chuckle at some of her more ridiculous voices. Still, he appreciated the amount of energy she put into caring for these little ones. And he even obliged when she cued him to read a couple of lines, giving a gravelly, but still funny-ish voice. Didn't want to scare the kids. Once the reading was done, the kids were wide awake and they all made their way out to the playground. The kids parents would be arriving soon. Logan pulled his sweatshirt off and put it around Michelle. It was getting a little cool out. He hadn't realized it before. And he was just fine in the white t-shirt he wore under it.
The kids played and played hard. Logan laughed at a few of them playing a game of tag. A couple of them ran up to him. The one who'd recognized him before stopped right in front of the tall man and peered up into his eyes. "Are you the strongest superhero?" he asked. "One day I'm gonna be stronger than the strongest superhero. I'm gonna be able to lift airplanes and cars too, and save the pretty girl from the bad guy. I'm gonna be awesome." Logan smiled and laughed. "What's your superhero name going to be, little one?" he asked. The child thought for a while, but before he could answer a few more kids came up. They bombarded him with questions, but he kept a smile. It didn't bother him at all. He answered all of the questions as best as he could. Hell, even a few of the parents stopped to ask a question or two when they picked up their kids.
Logan waited patiently with Michelle as the last parent picked up their kid, the one who'd asked the first few questions. The kid stopped and yelled back. "I'm gonna call myself Hammer!" Logan gave a thumbs up and a smile. "That's a good name. I'll make sure no one takes it." The kid giggled and ran off with his mother. He turned to Michelle then. "Wow. You've got one hell of a job, don't you. It's great. Honestly."

Michelle was honestly impressed Logan was taking everything in stride and playing along beautifully. Many men felt uncomfortable in those types of situations when they were just thrown in and didn’t personally know the children. Not a problem for Logan, it would seem. Either he really liked children, or he was just so used to interacting with them because of his chosen profession that he was great with them whether he liked them or not. Judging by the smile on his face, it was some combination of the two. That was a good thing. She didn’t want him to have a bad time after she’d asked him to meet her there at the school instead of just telling him her address or exchanging other contact information.
Time went more slowly than usual while they waited for her students to be picked up. It probably just felt that way to Michelle because she couldn’t wait to actually get some time with Logan where it was just the two of them. A slight weight was dropped onto her shoulders, and when she looked down she found it was his sweatshirt. “Oh, thank you!” she said with a smile. That was really nice of him. The temperature was definitely dropping, and he’d noticed it even before she had. Truly a thoughtful man. A thoughtful man whose fit body could certainly fill out a t-shirt with the best of them. Just wow. The fact that he was here to see her made her one lucky woman, that was for sure. “Yeah, they’re pretty great. And thanks for being so patient. I know the kids really enjoyed having you in class. They were on their best behavior showing off for you.”
Finally, it was time. All her students were safe and on their way home with their respective guardians. Michelle pulled Logan’s sweatshirt just a little more solidly onto her body and looked up at him. “Alright, I’m all yours now. Where did you want to go?” It was an interesting choice of words in retrospect, but the preschool teacher didn’t regret them for an instant. Considering the strange way they’d connected to begin with, and everything that had happened since, Michelle knew deep down that it wasn’t far from the truth. She was way more attached to him than she knew she should be considering how little time they’d actually spent in each other’s presence.

It had often been said, especially amongst his teammates, that Logan was just a big kid. Maybe that's why he was doing so well with the little ones. In truth, he was just much more patient and caring than anyone else on his team. Sure, Elite was very patient, he had to be to lead this group of knuckleheads, but no one kept their cool like the one they called Monster. It did seem a disparaging moniker, but once you'd seen him actually lose his temper, it made sense. It felt good to play with the kids, even for only for the little bit of time they had. It didn't hurt that he knew he'd have one on one time with Michelle afterwards. The wait actually did test that patience. But he kept it together. He'd really come to like her, and the kids were part of the package, so to speak.
He could only laugh when she said the kids were showing off. He remembered he'd done a bit of the same as a kid when the real heroes, cops and firefighters and such, would come in his class for career day. "It's no problem at all. They're really good kids. I think Hammer might actually have a little crush on his teacher.....but you didn't hear that from me," he said with a little laugh. "Can't say I blame him," he said sans laugh.
So the students were all off with their parents now, and she had just turned to him and told him, in interesting terms, that she was ready. "Well there's a little cafe on fifth street. I don't know the name of it, but Conflict says they have the best grilled cheese sandwiches he's ever tasted there. I'd say something nicer, but I think I'm a little underdressed for that. Honestly didn't really think about that much. I was more excited just to get to see you again." He looked around for a brief moment, then back at her and smiled. "Maybe a little stroll along the beach? The sunset is beautiful at this one spot that I found not too long ago."

Michelle shared the laugh with Logan when he mentioned Hammer. It wasn’t until he got to the second half of his statement that she blushed. He was a world-famous hero, practically a celebrity. The fact that she’d been able to capture his interest even for a moment still blew her mind. “It’s not uncommon. The number of marriage proposals we get from four year-olds might surprise you.” The kids weren’t even old enough to know what that meant, but Michelle usually thought it was adorable that they cared enough about her to want her to move into their houses and offer to have their mom make her pancakes every morning and… Obviously she was a strong-willed woman indeed to be able to turn down pancakes every morning. She liked to think she was being a good influence on the little ones and the kinds of people they would find themselves attracted to once they were old enough to think about that kind of thing for real.
So he hadn’t really thought much about what they should do, he’d just wanted to come see her again as he’d promised. That was undeniably one of the sweetest things she’d ever heard. “I vote for the walk on the beach. We can always talk about food afterwards…” If he had time, that is. Michelle had no idea how long he would be able to spend with her before he’d have to go back to his base. “Lead the way.” She couldn’t wait to see the spot he’d found. When he’d had the time to go out and actually find something like that, she had no idea. Then again, you found time for the things that were important to you. She could understand why he might need a quiet place to get away from it all now and then.
“So… tell me about yourself. What do you like to do when you’re not saving lives?” She supposed the only reason she’d met him was because he’d chosen to spend some free time in the same place as she was taking her students on a field trip. “Other than going to museums, I guess.” He’d seemed just as surprised as everyone else when the museum ceiling caved in, so she felt pretty confident that he hadn’t been there to work in the first place.

Logan couldn't deny that the kids were sweethearts. He couldn't remember being like that as a kid, but to be completely honest, he didn't remember much from being a kid. Was he like these little ones? It brought a smile to his face just to think about it. But undoubtedly Michelle was leaving a good impression on them, and that was a good thing. They could have Denise as a role model, after all. That didn't seem like it would go well. But this woman was perfect for that. Beautiful but down to Earth, smart and funny, the descriptors could go on and on. That smile though, it really got to him already, and he barely knew her.
He was the honest type always. Logan kept his word, and making a promise wasn't something that he did often. So when he did, he made sure that he did exactly what he said he would do. It didn't hurt that he truly was excited to see Michelle again. "A walk on the beach it is then," he answered. Food was always a good thing, but they'd get to the spot he mentioned at about the perfect time if they left for it now. She'd get to see the sunset that he enjoyed watching as often as he could. It was a good thing he already gave her his sweatshirt too, as the beach seemed to get a little chilly in the later hours. But it was peaceful, and that was something the hero known as Monster didn't get a lot. He was truly a gentle giant. As they walked, she asked about him. He laughed when she mentioned going to museums. "I enjoy the little things, really. The boring days that everyone else seems to find irritating. I don't get a lot of time off, and I like to pull away from the name of Monster as much as I can. Not many monsters have the interest in museums." He shrugged and let a brief chuckle out. "I love what I do, even the danger of it. But I'm always more at home in the peaceful moments in between. What about you?"
When they finally got to the beach, it was starting to get late. The walk to the spot would take about another half hour, and they'd have to talk for probably about another half hour after that before the sun started to set. Logan was looking forward to it though. He'd never been much of a talker, but just having Michelle's company made him want to be. The pier came into view, and he pointed just past it. "When the sun goes down, it reflects beautifully over the water right there. Sitting far enough back you'll see an array of colors like you've never seen. It's amazing. I couldn't think of anyone I'd rather share it with." He led her to the spot where they'd sit down, stopping just long enough to buy a beach towel from a vendor who was just closing up. He put the towel down where they'd sit and smiled. "It won't be long now," he said softly.

Michelle was glad the very nature of her job did not allow her to wear anything except ‘sensible’ shoes. Going on an unexpected long walk with a handsome superhero would have been torture if she wore the kind of shoes the average female professional donned. And that would be extremely unfortunate, because she wouldn’t trade anything for that time strolling along with Logan, learning more about him and vice versa. No one who’d only seen him on TV knew the slightest thing about him, and some of them made awful assumptions about his character. Here was a gentle soul whose great strength had saved many lives, but also occasionally made him lose control. It wasn’t his fault, and more importantly he didn’t enjoy the destruction he caused during those times. They would never know the truth, and to Michelle that was a damn shame.
“I agree. Happiness for me is all about the little things.” She was grateful for her life. Had basically everything she could want, apart from maybe someone to share it all with. For her, happiness and peace could come from the smile of one of her students, the perfect bread-meat-cheese ratio of a good cheeseburger, that feeling of catharsis at the end of a good book... the list went on and on. It made Michelle happy to know that she and Logan had more in common than just that they both happened to be in the same place at a time when some crazy stuff happened. She’d known that somehow. She had sensed it back at the base, when they’d first gotten a chance to talk after he woke up. There was so much more to him than what people thought from them just seeing a handful of videos of him fighting.
After a period of time walking that she knew had to have been quite a while, but seemed very short, he was laying down a towel for them to sit on. They’d reached the spot he wanted to share with her. Once he was done spreading it out, she helped him straighten it up and then sat down next to him, close enough for her to lay her head on his shoulder. Which, of course, she did. Rarely in her life had she felt so comfortable with a person, and she was a pretty extroverted type. Occasionally getting her alone time could be nice, but she loved being around people she cared about. Her students, family, friends… she couldn’t get enough. Even being around strangers was fun, because despite some evidence to the contrary she did believe in the overall goodness of people. “It’s beautiful already,” she commented. He was right: it wouldn’t be long now before the sun set. Michelle found herself eager with anticipation. If Logan said the view from here was spectacular, then she firmly believed she was about to get her mind blown.

Logan was used to hearing the less than savory things about him. Just his code name in the field brought a lot of that on, and it didn't help that his team ribbed on him about it sometimes too, except for Eddie, of course. If Logan really had a friend on the team it was their leader, or maybe he was just being a good leader. The simple fact was that more often than not Logan felt alone. But in this moment and the moments to come, no matter how fleeting they may be, he wasn't alone. There was an amazing woman there with him, and that was something he never thought he'd see. Just his strength alone pushed that from his mind. The idea of actually being with a woman, not that he hadn't before, but that had been before he got his powers, well....he just didn't want to hurt anyone. The monster was more gentle than anyone he'd really known.
It was good to hear that Michelle was happy with the little things as well. Most women liked the extravagant, high priced shit and forgot that when it came down to it, you couldn't take that stuff with you when you left this existence. Despite that, Logan didn't always feel happiness. More often than not, he felt loneliness. He was a beast, a monster, and most monsters were just misunderstood enough that people thought them terrifying and wanted to stay away from them. Generally speaking, that was the case with Logan too. People shied away from him, so it had been very odd today when the children took to him so quickly. Of course, the eyes of children often saw the truth. It was a lucky thing that they had not been corrupted and taught how to hate by their parents. And Michelle was clearly doing a great job keeping them in the know of the way things should be too.
He was glad that she already found it a beautiful sight. The fact was though, that even in that moment, he couldn't take his eyes off of her. "It is," he answered with a slow smile. The few minutes passed slowly, but still too fast for Logan's liking, and the sun began to set. Hues of orange and blue, mixed with purples and light shades of red bounced off of the water, creating a pattern of color you'd swear was just a painting on a canvas. But this was real. Logan only gave one quick glance over to the setting sun, but otherwise his eyes stayed locked on the woman beside him, resting her head on his shoulder. His arm made its way around her, resting just below her elbow with a gentle touch. "Most beautiful thing I've ever seen," he remarked.
