Astara was literally born into the circus, in a medical trailer on the back lot during a run in Boise, Idaho. Her mother was the master horse trainer and star equestrian vaulting performer, and her father was the carnival sideshow strongman. They lived in the RV they used for traveling and motel rooms. Since the circus toured most of the year, Astara never attended a real school, only the home school co-op alongside several of the other children until dropping out at age sixteen. Though her mother wanted her to get into vaulting, she fell in love with aerial acrobatics and became the youngest aerialist in the show at age ten. She met her lifelong best friend, Chip, when she was a little girl. They remained close throughout the years, seeing each other through growing pains, family dysfunction, superpower discovery, and even their own personal drama. He was the only one to know about her superpowers for the longest time. Astara started partying in her early teen years to ignore the fact that her parents marriage was falling apart. They finally divorced when Astara was seventeen and her mother left the circus, effectively walking out of her life. Since then, her father has made many failed attempts to bond with her. She's far too busy these days to deal with it.
