"Yeah, no. Not at all," Warren said in answer to her response about the football player. He laughed. "Just the memory hurts," he chuckled. He listened to the story about her kitten and he chuckled again. "What's her name?" he asked, genuinely interested. He wasn't the biggest fan of cats, but it wasn't a dislike by any means. There was just something about the eyes of those animals, like they were always plotting something. It didn't help that the alien living in his head had a feline-like physical form back when it was alive. "Well that was really sweet of you," he said when she mentioned buying the blanket for the homeless man. Not many people would even bother with that sort of thing. It made her seem even more insanely nice of a person, more so than he already thought her to be. He smiled when she ordered a water. "That's smart. Helps to prevent hangovers," he said with a nod.
"It really was. It was so easy to just forget any troubles and center myself, even without all the training mumbo jumbo that the monks use," he said with a smile. It wasn't that he didn't respect that training. Quite the opposite actually. Then she spoke of her travels, and basically, if unintentionally, invited herself on his next travels. He found that he didn't actually mind that at all. "That'd be great," he said. "I have a trip planned in about four weeks. I'm going to Paris. I have a client who's from there, and he's feeling nostalgic and wants some professional photographs of the attractions there. He's paid in advance, and a heck of a sum at that. It's more than enough to get a second ticket, if you'd like."
He took another sip of his beer and perked up a bit when she asked about pets. He shook his head, but stopped suddenly. "Well, I wouldn't exactly call it a pet, but...." he started to say. He took another long swig of his beer and set it down. "There is something. And I feel like I can trust you. I like you a lot and I want to be up front with you. I have an alien living in my head. Well, it's the alien's consciousness. I found it in the wreckage of the battle while I was taking pictures when the alien invaded the city. It fused with me, the physical body dying, but giving me it's memories and abilities. I know it sounds crazy, and I promise you I'm not drunk yet." He held up his beer, turning it so she could see that it was still half full. "I can show you if you want me to. But I didn't want to keep anything from you. I, well, I want to see you again after tonight, and not just at another emergency site."

Kaiel smiled when he talked about the football player landing on him. "But you are physically okay. No broken bones." Kaiel grinned a little bit, taking another sip of her water. "His name is Magnum. I didn't name him after a condom brand... It's Magnum PI. I felt like it was a fitting name for him, he likes to discover things in my house. He's gotten into some of my drawers before, and made himself a bed out of some of my freshly washed clothing." She wondered what Magnum was doing at the moment, perhaps staring out the window. Look at her, thinking of what her cat was doing while she was getting to know an attractive man. At least Magnum wouldn't be a surprise if he ever came over to her apartment. "He likes to attack people, still haven't figured out why that is."
"I think for first responders it's a life style. We're in our career to help people." Kaiel shrugged, and leaned back in her chair. "It was better than having to treat him a week later for the same thing. Some nights got really busy." Kaiel tipped her water glass to him, and grinned. When he began to talk about traveling again, he told her bout going to Paris to take pictures for a nostalgic client. Then offered to pay for her plane ticket? "No... I mean.. I didn't want it to sound like that. I can buy my own ticket. I just was wondering if you'd be okay with me tagging along. Traveling alone is nerve wracking for me. I went to Africa with Emily and Chris. It's more fun for me when I have someone to talk to." She had been the hardcore third wheel on the trip to Africa. The two love birds did everything together while Kaiel trailed behind them.
Kaiel listened to him as he told her about the alien. Oh, that. Kaiel had forgotten about that - she hadn't been there when it happened. "I actually do believe you... I know you're not drunk. It's crazy, but I was in Africa when it happened, and when we returned.... Nobody told us anything." Kaiel shrugged, and took another drink of her water. "It kind of became like it never happened in a way, but I believe you." She smiled when he offered to show her and told her he didn't want to keep anything from her because he wanted to see her again - outside of their running into one another at the scene of accidents. "That'd actually be nice." She nodded and smiled. "If I ever invite you over to my apartment - you need to remind me to hide Magnum in my room. I don't need him attacking you." Kaiel Grabbed a napkin and took a pen out of her purse before scribbling down her number and sliding it over to him. Yeah, it was the old way, but it still got the point across.

"True, I am," Warren answered. "No broken bones." He laughed out about her very quick assurance that she hadn't named her feline after a condom brand. It wouldn't be the worst thing to name an animal after. "Old, old show. I remember watching some vids of it. It was….interesting." He smiled when she said the cat liked to attack people. "Territorial, I guess?" he asked with a shrug and a laugh.
With a nod, he said, "That makes sense," when she explained. "Oh, I'm sure you can. I wasn't trying to make you out to be a freeloader or anything like that. I just figured I'd offer is all." He smiled. He was really looking forward to going to Paris. "But yeah, I'd love to have you along. I've never really had an issue with traveling alone, but I understand what you mean. I imagine traveling with them had to be a bit difficult though. Last time I traveled with friends, I kinda ended up a fifth wheel. It wasn't pretty." Especially when they'd tried to set him up. Not once out of the four times did he find any real interest in the woman. Kaiel, though, he'd definitely found interest in her.
He could only nod when she said that she believed him about the alien and his powers. It wasn't like that sort of thing wasn't commonplace anymore. In the world today, people with powers were about a nickel a dozen. Then there were those who did the same thing without powers, including Kaiel. Her job made her even more a hero than those who fought crime on a normal basis. He respected that more than he even realized. "It would be. Oh, yeah, I will. Don't want to get mauled by a house cat," he laughed. He took the napkin and pulled another from the pile to return the favor. He quickly jotted down his number and slid it to her. "You can call or text anytime. I'll answer."

Kaiel shrugged when he guessed that her cat was territorial. "He might be. I mean, he's the only cat in the apartment and he hasn't... Marked anything - to my knowledge." Kaiel was happy to stop talking about her cat - it was nice but not when trying to woo a man - which if she had to guess, she already had. "I think we'll have fun. How many people can say they went on a date to Paris? If you want to call it a date, I mean." She shrugged again, and bit her lip, looking at her glass of water."We could get out of here... Not like that... But walk around and talk?" She didn't want to make it sound like she was desperate, but she did want fresh air, and to walk off some of the nachos she'd eaten.
When he slid a napkin to her with his phone number, she pulled out her phone and a few keystrokes later - his phone had a message from her. But she kept the note, folding it and putting it in her pocket. It was cute to do things like that. Kaiel took a peek at the time, it was getting a little late - but Kaile still felt good enough and awake enough to take a walk and talk. There was literally no better way to get to know one another.
(Sorry its short! Might try to add some more.)

"Well, I wouldn't be opposed to calling it a date," Warren answered. He shook his head slightly. How could that even possibly get into his head to not want to call it a date. Internally, he did chuckle a bit though that she'd call it a date. And yeah, Paris wasn't exactly the movie theater or an expensive restaurant. Only guys with loads of money could afford to do such a thing. Luckily, Warren had the kind of job that he traveled for free damn near every time.
He noted that she kept the napkin with his number, despite typing in the digits and sending him a message. So he had her number. Quickest way to do that. He smiled though, since she'd kept the napkin. It was cute, he liked that she did that.
It was getting late, but there was no reason for the night to end. Not yet anyway. Warren stood up and looked at her, extending his hand. "How would you feel about walking along the beach with me?"
