The Valdez family has a sordid history that is mostly the fault of Diego. When he was young, his powers manifested and he accidentally killed his younger sister. He reanimated her when he found out that he could, and eventually she returned fully to life, breaking his hold on her. Ridden with guilt, Diego tried to make amends. When his father rejected him, Diego killed both his parents and left, starting a career as a serial killer, now responsible for nearly one hundred recorded victims.
