The kids were so excited for the field trip, and Michelle couldn’t help but find their enthusiasm at least a little contagious. Most people would never think that an armful of four year-olds would get that pumped up for a trip to a museum. Add in some dinosaurs though and it was a whole different story. She’d often found these children to be hungry for knowledge, and she fed into it as much as she could. It was why she loved teaching the young kids as opposed to elementary or, god forbid, high school kids. It made her sad to know how jaded the children became once life started weighing them down. All it took was a little bullying, one bad teacher or parent thinking that they weren’t capable, to force that sparkle out of their eyes. The sparkle that had first made her fall in love with teaching. An argument could be made that she might do more good trying to reach out to those less fortunate kids, and maybe they were right. It was something she often considered, but for now she had no intention of going anywhere. She loved her job too much.
“Okay everyone! Stay near me and remember to stick with your buddies!” Michelle grinned at the giggles and scattered shouts of ‘Yes Miss Reilly’ coming from her adorable students. After giving each child a lanyard with their museum pass, they met up with their tour guide. Knowing how rowdy her class could get, she almost felt sorry for the man. It would undoubtedly be entertaining either way. So she brought up the rear while the guide led the way. It would have been nice to actually be able to examine some of the museum’s treasures more closely, but unfortunately she was on the job right now. She had to keep an eye on the kids, first and foremost. But sometime soon, she made a mental note to come back on her own.
The children were anxious to see the dinosaur bones, but that unfortunately meant that their attention wavered a bit throughout the tour as some of them became more and more impatient. Finally, they reached the room they’d been waiting for. The Prehistoric Room. Filled with bones and interactive exhibits about those fascinating creatures that lived before mankind. Now the children knew that they could separate a bit as long as they stayed in the room, near their buddies. Many of them crowded around the little short educational show running on the plasma tv in the corner, but some of them were more interested in pretending to dig up dinosaur bones, or crawling through the life-size Brachiosaurus.
The ceiling collapsed in an instant. Michelle’s first instinct was to protect the children, which was difficult considering how spread out in the room they’d become. She didn’t know what was going on, but her priority was getting to the largest group and ensuring their safety so that she could go look for the stragglers. She headed in the direction of the children who, only moments ago, had been watching the tv program. Now they were crying and screaming in fear. She would need to find a safe place for them, but in order to do that she needed to know what was going on. The brunette looked over in the direction of the crash to see if she could determine the cause of the collapse.

Monster. Logan really didn't like the codename, but it fit. He was a regular Jekyll and Hyde. Most of the time he was calm, collected, and generally nice. But then he'd flare up, go a bit off kilter, and that's when things got ugly. Downright monstrous. If he had a dollar for every time someone had messed with his mind and turned him against his team, well....he'd have four dollars, but that's besides the point. It wasn't even a codename he'd given himself. Eagle's Nest had given the moniker to him, but he couldn't begrudge them of it. After all, it was just a name.
Today was just his day. He shouldn't even be thinking about things like that. Today, he was going to the museum. Typically he didn't like going out, but being cooped up on the Thermopylae wasn't exactly his idea of good relaxation either. Stopping at the small food stand outside, he bought a hot dog and a Dr. Pepper. He moved over and sat down on a bench outside of the museum, where he looked over to see a group of kids coming in with their teacher. He looked away so as not to draw attention. No doubt most of those kids, and probably the teacher had seen his face on television before during the news reports about his work with the Spartans. So keeping a low profile was paramount, but these hot dogs were so good. He finished his meal and stood up, keeping his head low and making his way into the museum. It was only a few minutes before he was walking around the exhibit that described, in painstaking detail, the events of the Omega's attack on the city. Not that he knew everything about it, but everything he saw looked pretty accurate. He left that exhibit, and made his way towards the dinosaurs. That's where he saw the children. A chuckle passed as he noted their exuberance. He wondered, because he couldn't remember, if he was ever that excited about anything.
A strange sound caught his ears, and he looked in the direction it came from....up. "Damn it," he muttered as large pieces of the building's roof came caving in, crashing to the floor. Those kids, he couldn't let them get hurt. He had to act, and quickly. He grabbed a nearby bench and tossed it, smashing it against a piece of rubble and diverting its path from hitting the kid it was heading towards. The bench smashed against the far wall. Logan looked up to see a large man atop the roof. The large man, at least seven feet tall, jumped down, crashing through a stegosaurus bone display and landing on his feet. He roared out, but no words were used. Why was this guy attacking the museum? Why was Logan even asking himself that? There was only one thing to do.
"Let's you and me take this outside, big fella," he said loudly, pulling off his hoodie. It wouldn't do to get that torn up. He'd just bought it a couple days ago after all. If anyone didn't know who he was, they would now, seeing that large device on his right wrist. No answer came back from the large man, at least no vocal answer. Instead, he charged, ramming into Logan and lifting him into the air, tossing him across the room. Logan landed hard against the same wall the bench had smashed against. He wiped a bit of blood from his lip and stood up. "Ok, you want to play it that way. Then let's play." His muscles tensed and he launched himself towards the large man. Their fists hit each other so hard that they echoed through the room. This guy was almost as strong as Logan. He didn't care so much about that, but he did care that this wasn't good for the children to see. "This is gonna hurt," he muttered to himself before he leaned back, then sent his head crashing into the big guy's. The headbutt sent the large man flying out through the window. Logan shook out the cobwebs, and looked over at the teacher. "You okay?" he asked.

There was a man looming over the empty hole in the roof. Michelle spotted him even though her eyes were half-closed to keep out any dust or other particulates that might have come down with the chunk of ceiling. She watched as the guy jumped through the hole and landed in the room. Her mind was running a million miles a minute, trying to come up with a strategy. She didn’t know who this man was or why he’d chosen to attack a museum of all things, but her priority was the children. If she had to lure this man outside the building to keep them safe, then she would do so. Even if that meant revealing her powers. That was something she wanted to avoid if at all possible, but at this point she wasn’t seeing many options. Letting him bring down the whole building was not something she would do just to protect her own secret identity. If she ended up having to change careers after the public found out about her, it would break her heart, but she would do it.
Just when she was trying to think of a way to draw the man’s attention toward herself, someone else stood up to challenge the intruder. She barely recognized him, having spotted him earlier out of the corner of her eye. One of the museum’s other patrons. And as he removed his sweatshirt she realized that he was a member of the Spartans. Monster. Wasn’t that his name? She thought it was, only remembering because she’d seen him on TV once and disapproved of the negative connotation in that codename. It didn’t seem right for a superhero to have the kind of tag normally only given to the bad guys. At the time, she’d wondered if he’d picked it himself or if others on his team had done so. Neither option was particularly palatable, but she sort of hoped for the former. Then again, maybe there was a good reason for that nickname. Maybe he was unruly and out of control. If that was the case, she and the kids would be best off getting as far away from this place as possible.
Rather than watching the two superpowered individuals fight, she focused on gathering all the children together. While avoiding getting in between the two men doing battle, obviously. There were some bumps and bruises, and one of the children had twisted his ankle while falling, but everyone in her charge was okay. Frightened, but okay. A few of the Band-Aids she always kept in her purse covered any scrapes. Several of the boys were craning to see the fight, though it wasn’t long before the man known as Monster ejected the other man from the building. Then the first thing he did was turn and speak to her. Not such a bad guy, if first impressions were to be believed. “Yes, we’re fine…” She stood up and turned toward him. “Thank you. I don’t know what that man would have done if you hadn’t been here.” Noticing the blood trickling from his lip, she frowned. “Are you alright?”
Speaking of that guy, Michelle’s eyes quickly traveled to the hold in the wall and then back to the man in front of her. “Do you think… he’s gone?” Not knowing how strong this man was, it was difficult for her to say whether or not the guy could truly have been defeated with a simple headbutt. Maybe it was possible. The rumors of the Spartans’ strength were not unknown even to a simple teacher like her.

Good, the kids and their teacher were okay. That was the main thing here, keeping everyone safe. Remarkably, it seemed that everyone either got out alive, or with minimal injuries. This could only be a good thing for the man known as Monster to the public. His reputation would only be helped by that. He nodded slowly when she asked about him being okay. "Not gonna lie. Dude's got a hard head," he answered with a small grin, shaking his head again. That guy's strength seemed to be close enough to his that he could be really dangerous. As if attacking the museum and standing toe to toe with Monster weren't an indication of that to begin with....
"I doubt it," he answered. "He's tough. He'll probably shake that off pretty quickly. I should get out there. You should get outside, to the kids." He started towards the hole in the wall, but was taken by surprise when he got to the hole. As soon as he got close, a bolt of energy slammed directly into his chest, sending him flying backwards, crashing into another dinosaur skeleton. "Son of a...." he started to say before four other enemies came through the hole with the larger man. He went for his communicator, but it had been damaged. "Yep, I'm screwed," he muttered to himself. At least there were no people left inside. He'd have to go this alone, since he couldn't call in his team. Probably for the better anyway. Glory would probably give him hell about needing help. Such a bitch she could be sometimes. Logan slowly made his way to his feet, feigning like he was more hurt than he actually was. It was all he really needed to size up the enemies. The big guy, a set of what looked like twins who's hands were crackling with power (his guess was that they shot the power blast), a flyer with what looked like a particle rifle, and a sneaky fella that slipped off into the shadows. As he stood, he snatched the dinosaur skull and flung it at the flyer, knocking him from the sky and separating him from his rifle. That thing would probably do some serious damage.
Logan leapt over another power blast and charged at the group. It was all or nothing here. He was a fighter, but standing against five powered individuals wasn't the most intelligent of moves for anyone. Logan faked like he stumbled and rose up with a hard uppercut into the jaw of the large man that staggered him. Another power blast slammed into Logan's side, and he stumbled back, only to be hit with something from behind. Looking back, he only caught a glimpse as the shadowed man teleported away. "Great," he growled under his breath. There was no way he could win this by himself, not if he stayed in full control. He had to lose it. That wouldn't be good for his persona in the public, but that didn't matter as much as making sure the people around were made safe. He stood up again and yelled to the enemies. "This is the way you wanna play it? I can play that game too!" He reached over and tore the control device from his arm. Blood sprayed all over the place, and he stomped the device when it hit the ground, shattering it into thousands of pieces. The devastation to come would prove just why he was called monster. He didn't like it, but it was just. He launched himself towards them with so much strength behind it that the ground under his feet cracked a little. This was about to get really, really ugly. At least the kids wouldn't see it.

Michelle waited around to watch the man head toward the hole before turning away herself and heading with the kids toward the nearest exit. She heard a crash and that only spurred her on to get the kids out of the building and back onto the bus even more quickly. Luckily the bus driver was nearby and definitely anxious to leave. She couldn’t blame the man. She wanted to leave too, but at the same time she was worried about Monster. Maybe she could do something to help him. Not only that, but she wanted to make sure that there was no one else in that building. Her first priority had to be the kids, though. “Get them out of here,” she told the bus driver. “I’m going to make sure the building is cleared and call for help.” The driver closed the doors and sped off against the wishes of all the kids, who immediately started crying once again at the idea of their teacher staying behind. It was sweet that they were worried for her safety, but really they didn’t need to be. If only they knew exactly how well she was able to take care of herself.
Once they were gone, she hurried back to the building, glancing around for a sign of anyone else that might not have gotten out yet. No one that she could see, or hear. Good. But when she reached the dinosaur room, through the hole in the wall she saw the dire situation Monster was in. Five against one was hardly fair, and she was still having a hard time understanding why this group had attacked a museum in the first place. Unless they’d known Monster was there and wanted to take him out? Unlikely, but possible. It would certainly explain the numbers. Now she was really glad that she’d stayed behind. There was no way he could take on that many adversaries at once.
At least, that was what she thought before he ripped off the device on his arm. She’d been wondering what that was, how it all worked. Then her eyes widened as she saw just how much of his power had been contained. He hadn’t even started fighting again yet, but the ground itself was giving way. Maybe he really could do this all on his own. The flying man was taking aim once again with the rifle while Monster’s attention was on the big man. Well, she had no intentions of getting in Monster’s way, but that didn’t mean he was impervious to injury. She would do what she could from afar. After all, from here inside the museum they wouldn’t know where she was unless they specifically looked through the hole. So she would help, starting with taking care of the rifle-bearer. She raised a barrier on each side of the guy and brought the two together quickly. It knocked the gun out of the man’s hand with a violent jerk that may have broken the man’s wrist and dislocated his shoulder. More importantly, the impact knocked the man unconscious and he fell to the ground. It wasn’t much, but at least now it was only four against one. Slightly better odds. If the opportunity for her to help again did arise, she would hop on it. First she would need to know just how bad things were going to get with Monster unleashing his full power.

Monster saw the rifle wielder fall from the sky unconscious, despite his enraged stupor and the forward progress of his leap. Someone was helping him. If he'd seen that coming, he wouldn't have ripped off the controlling device. But hindsight is twenty twenty. The hero's momentum sent him crashing into one of the twins, the female, who gasped at the impact. Her brother fired another blast at him, crackling against his ribs and forcing him to spin around. Monster came up in a roll and landed an uppercut into the large villain's jaw that sent him hurtling backwards, narrowly missing the ninja guy. Monster turned back to the twins. His eyes seemed to alight with rage, though it was just an optical illusion from the sun's reflection. It was still an intimidating sight. Teeth clenched, Monster slammed his fists into the ground and tore up some of the flooring, slinging it towards the twins. Both of them narrowly avoided the rubble, but the girl got too close to Monster, who took her arms and pulled. She screamed as her body tore jaggedly in half. Blood spurted everywhere, and the male twin's eyes bugged out so wide that they could have fallen out.
In anger, the male twin rushed, only to be beaten to death with the halves of his sister's dead body. Monster slung the body away and spun around, rushing towards where he'd sent the big guy flying. Running in that direction, he stepped on the unconscious flyer and his rifle. The rifle breaking apart set off a large blast that redirected Monster's trajectory. He went flying backwards, falling quickly and impaling his stomach on a rib bone of one of the dinosaur exhibits. Monster broke the rib and yanked out both sides. He tossed them aside and hurtled himself towards the large man again, who was just getting to his feet. During all this, though, Monster had lost track of the ninja guy and whoever it was that had been helping him.
The large villain and Monster crashed together, sending a shockwave of power in every direction. Monster ended up on top, and began raining down punches with enough strength to destroy a train's engine. There was no stopping him. His fist continued to crash down onto the large man. The impact seemed to get heavier and heavier with each strike, shaking the ground with lefts and rights. The large man stopped moving after the third punch, but Monster continued. But through all that, he didn't see the ninja guy coming up behind him. He was doing something with his blades, some sort of power that electrified the metal, sheathing the blades in lightning like energy. The ninja guy approached the enraged Monster silently, undetected by the angry hero.

It was awful. Michelle could hardly believe what was going on. Who was the good guy again? It was difficult for her to believe that Monster was the one that was on the side of good with the way he was, in one case in particular, literally tearing apart the enemy. Did he have any idea what he was doing, or had he lost all sense of control when he removed that device from his arm? Michelle couldn’t be sure, but it was terrifying to watch. And still she cringed when he got knocked backward into the dinosaur bone. The fact that he’d been stabbed through barely seemed to phase him, though, which was even more incredible.
Then he was running at the big man again. Their collision sent even Michelle flying backward into the wall. For a moment, she blacked out. It didn’t take long for her to shake it off, but when she raised her head she saw that Monster’s attention was still on the big guy. Err… what was left of him. The last adversary standing was taking advantage of the situation and sneaking up on him with his sword drawn. It looked like electricity or something was coming from the blade. Monster was tough, but his skin was not impervious to being cut. He’d already shown that weakness when he crashed into the dinosaur skeleton. So he wasn’t invulnerable. That meant the ninja guy could very will kill him if this attack succeeded.
Michelle was conflicted. She was afraid of Monster, but also knew that overall he was a good guy. While she might temporarily be seeing two of everything, she couldn’t just sit there and let him potentially die. She threw up a barrier in the shape of a dome all around the ninja so that he could not escape, but he also could not attack anyone. The man let out a frustrated grunt as he realized what had happened and attempted to stab at the barrier to break it. Michelle figured she should be safe enough, though she wasn’t entirely sure what that electric power of his was or how it worked.

Monster lost himself in the...well....the monster. His strength did that too him sometimes. His fists continued to slam into the now dead larger man. He didn't even notice the dome pop up behind him, or hear the frustrated grunt from the ninja. He did, however, hear the glass smash in above him from the skylight. Twelve men, head to toe Eagle's Nest equipped, came rappelling down from choppers and unhooked when the hit the ground. Monster's eyes, narrowed and angry, surveyed the men until they fell on the school teacher. Only when he saw what he was doing's effect on her in her eyes did he finally start to calm down. Thoughts raced through his mind. Had he hurt her accidentally? Or anyone else in the building? He looked away, breathing heavily, confusion setting in. He took a few steps back as the men aimed their guns at him. One of the agents had landed right next to Michelle. "Tranqs only fellas. Got to bring big boy home," that one yelled out. With those words, the sound of firing guns could be heard. Twelve tranquilizers pounded into Monster's skin. The agent looked at Michelle. "Are you alright, ma'am?" He could tell that she was the one who'd put up the dome. Who else would have helped someone with the codename of Monster?
Logan lurched forward drowsily. "Are you kidding me?" one of the agents asked, his voice full of shock. "One of those tranqs would put an elephant out for a month. He's still standing after twelve." "Hit him again," the agent next to Michelle called out, and they did as ordered. Monster's hand reached out towards Michelle after the tranqs hit him, and just before he fell face first onto the ground. The lead agent placed his finger to his ear and spoke. "Boss, we need a clean up crew here. Power dampeners for an extranormal ninja type. Oh, and Monster's gonna need another control device for his strength. He's smashed this one to bits." He intentionally left out any intel about Michelle and her powers. It wasn't that the boss would want any harm to come to her, it was just a split second decision to help not make her life more complicated that clearly it already was.
"Miss, I'm leaving out the part about you being here to the boss, but chances are he already knows and will want to interview you. You can trust that he means no harm to you. He's just a little finicky about not knowing about an extranormal is all. And...if it isn't too forward of me to say to you, Monster will probably be more calm seeing a pleasant face when he wakes, if he hasn't shaken you too much, I mean." Just as he said that, the clean up team arrived in a large air vehicle and began the clean up. Guns trained on the ninja would allow her to drop the dome when she was ready to. The lead agent waited for her response.

Michelle’s eyes locked with Monster’s. It was so strange. It was like she could see the rage leaving his face as he looked at her, even if it was only for a moment before he looked away. Then she noticed the men coming down on ropes from above. It seemed like backup had finally come. A little late to help Monster maintain control of himself, but that was alright. At least they’d come prepared. The guns worried her, but the man who’d stopped next to her told the others that they were only to use tranquilizer darts. That was a relief for Michelle. “Yes, I’m fine. Just a little…” She raised her hand to rub the back of her head. “...bump. No real harm done.” Hopefully Monster wouldn’t get in trouble. And at least now the ninja baddie was under enough supervision that she felt like she would be safe. She dropped the shield around the ninja and let the team do their work.
Monster amazed her once again, taking so many shots of tranquilizer and still managing to stumble forward. Toward her. For a moment she worried that his anger might still be in control, but no. He reached for her, and then fell to the ground unconscious. Michelle stood there in shock for a moment before she realized that her hand was halfway extended out toward him. She hadn’t even realized that she’d been reaching for him too until that moment. It caught her by surprise, and she returned her hand to her side in as casual a manner as possible.
The agent next to her was barking out orders for a bit before his attention returned to her. Michelle bit her lower lip as she considered her options. “I have to admit that being interviewed by people like your boss is exactly why I try not to ever use my powers,” she said with a frown. She really didn’t want to go with those men. But then she took another look at Monster’s unconscious body being taken away. The agent’s words about him wanting to see her when he woke up were what gave her pause. The man was probably wrong. The odds were in favor of Monster not remembering her at all in the morning, and if he did then she still doubted he would care whether or not she was there. Surely they had enough people back at headquarters who were used to such a thing and knew how to deal with it. But if there was a chance, no matter how small… “But I would like to thank him, if I could. He saved me and all my students.”

Logan's eyes were childlike in the last moments before unconsciousness hit him. "Then it's settled," the agent said to Michelle with a small smile. It didn't take long to get back to the chopper and take their 'prisoner' back to Eagle's Nest base. The agent looked over to Michelle. "The head of our organization isn't in right now. So you won't have to worry about him grilling you for information. We'll get Logan back under control, a new device for his arm. He'll be just fine. But I saw that connection you two seemed to have. He'll be glad to see you when he wakes up. Which...honestly, I don't think that'll take too long."
The agent was right. They'd brought Monster into one of the laboratories, placing the new device onto his arm. The room was glass walled, so Michelle would be able to see the process. It seemed to be painless, but that was only due to the fact that Monster was unconscious. There was a lot of pain involved in it, since the device actually imbedded itself into it's host's nervous system. She'd see Monster twitch a few times. The agent though, assured her that he would be okay.
As he slept, Monster saw everything that had happened previously unfold again in his mind. More than anything though, his dream focused on the fearful look in the teacher's eyes. He hated himself for that. He hated the codename, but it fit. The things he could do when he lost it were truly monstrous. He started to shake, sweat and convulsed just a bit before he stopped. The agent assured Michelle again that he was okay. "He's about to wake up. The doctors have him doing better. I'll leave you to talk to him when he wakes up." He gave another nod and smile and left the room. The security cameras were on, so there really was no danger. Monster's eyes opened, and he saw the teacher there. "Are...are you okay?" he asked her immediately. He felt so guilty. How could he have lost control like that?

Watching Monster struggle even in unconsciousness tugged at Michelle’s heartstrings. How difficult must it be, living knowing that you could lose control at any time? She couldn’t even imagine having that much pressure on her shoulders. Her eyes were practically glued to his sleeping form behind the glass wall. If only there were something she could do to help him. The agent who’d brought her here was convinced that her presence here would help him feel better when he woke up, but she doubted that it would make all that much difference. He’d only seen her for like two seconds, so why would he care? It didn’t fully make sense, but she couldn’t deny that she felt drawn to him so she couldn’t entirely say that the agent was wrong. It was worth taking the chance just in case he was right, and Monster really would want to see her. Worst case scenario, she wasted a little of her time and life went back to normal tomorrow.
“Thank you…” she told the agent as he was leaving. Normally she wouldn’t want to be alone in these circumstances, but she knew that she had nothing to fear even after the sleeping man woke up. He would not harm her, of that much she was certain. Soon after the agent left, she saw Monster’s eyes open. It was a relief that he didn’t seem injured. His eyes found her pretty quickly, and the first words out of his mouth were wanting to know whether or not she was okay.
She nodded in response. “I’m fine. Just a little bump on the head. What about you? How are you feeling?” she asked. He hadn’t really moved at all yet since waking, but she knew that he’d taken quite a beating in that fight so it wouldn’t entirely surprise her if she found out that he couldn’t really move at all. “I… ummm… I wanted to thank you. You saved me and my students.” There was no telling what might have happened to her and the children if Monster hadn’t stepped in. “I'm Michelle. What… umm…” Reaching out, she pressed one hand against the glass wall that separated the two of them. “What is your name?” She hated the fact that when she thought about him, the only name she could give him was Monster. She wanted to change that.

Monster awoke, bleary eyed from the tranqs, but somehow he'd immediately seen the teacher behind the glass. It comforted him a bit to know that at least he hadn't hurt her or the children. That would have killed him. Despite his strength of body, he had the most gentle heart of anyone you could possibly ever meet. He hated hurting people, even felt bad about hurting the bad guys. He'd hate himself if he were to ever find out that he'd lost control and ripped one in half. So Eagle's Nest would very likely keep that information from him. He was sore, and just moving hurt, but he managed to slowly pull his feet from the bed and rest them on the floor. He heard her ask if he was okay, thank him for helping her, and introduce herself. He gave a slow nod, dropping his head into his hands and rubbing his eyes.
"I'm...ok. A little woozy, but ok." He looked up at her, only then really realizing just how pretty she was. "I'm just sorry you had to see that...Michelle. I'm Logan." He answered who he was. Sure, she probably already knew that they called him Monster. As much as he hated the codename it fit, especially after the events of this day. He'd be held in the headquarters for viewing for a few days probably. "Sometimes, when I'm on my own like that and my team isn't around, I just have to pull out all the stops. I don't enjoy it." His tone was even and calm, as his brain was starting to level out. He stood up, but kept his hand out to ensure that he wouldn't fall over. After steadying himself, he looked back to Michelle.
"Thank you for being here. It's nice to see a friendly face." Usually when this sort of thing happened, he'd wake to disapproving looks, or horrified looks. How could a so called hero do things like that? The worst looks came from his teammates. At least Elite tried to be understanding. Glory just razzed him constantly and Conflict was always trying to fist bump him for the sheer love of combat. Nathan was the worst, the look he always got from the director of Eagle's Nest was that 'how could you do this?' look of disapproval. Michelle looked uneasy, but not so much that she tried to be odd about it or tried to stay away from him.

Watching him move slowly into a standing position, Michelle couldn’t help but wonder whether or not that was good for him. He was seriously injured after all. She could tell that much, even if his words stated differently. “Maybe you… should you be moving around like that already?” she asked him hesitantly. She didn’t want him moving too fast and causing himself some kind of permanent damage. At the same time, she didn’t want to be too presumptuous. Maybe he had accelerated healing as well as that incredible strength of his. She wasn’t his mother, and most grown men didn’t appreciate being treated like a pre-school child. As sad as it was, that was something she did occasionally have to remind herself of. Way too much of her time was spent with the Under-5 Club. She was just lucky that words like “potty” had not invaded her everyday vocabulary when she was among adults. The worrying was something she just could not avoid, though.
“I understand. You did what you had to do to protect the innocent. I can’t imagine that it’s easy, doing what you do.” She did blush a little when he thanked her for being there. It was still somewhat of a surprise to her that he cared at all, but at least she didn’t have to feel foolish for following the advice of the agent who’d requested that she come along. “Well, like I said I wanted to thank you for everything. I wasn’t sure if I would ever see you again so I figured this was probably my one chance.”
She looked back at the door all the agents and doctors had gone through. The one who’d asked her to come along hadn’t said how much time she would have, only that she would most likely have to speak to the director afterward. That did worry her a little. She didn’t want to be involved in this world. All she’d ever wanted in life was to be a teacher, and she was deathly afraid that if the public knew about her powers that would no longer be possible. That was why she used them as seldom as possible, but she couldn’t keep herself from helping Logan when he’d been about to get stabbed in the back.

Logan didn't have any enhanced healing abilities, but his toughness was more than enough to enable him to stand. He'd often been told that he was too tough for his own good. "It's okay," he answered her. "I'm, I'm okay." He took a few deep breaths, grimacing between them and holding his ribs. He looked up at her, dark eyes trying to see her better through the glass.
"If only everyone saw it that way," he lamented. It hadn't been too long ago that a similar situation had occurred, and the UN wanted to crucify Monster for it. He was lucky that time that Hale managed to talk them down. "You don't have to thank me. I….," he started to say something else, but had to catch himself before he fell to the ground. He managed to stand up straight again. "It would be a shame if I didn't get to see you again." At least he knew that she was a teacher. Maybe he could drop in one day and talk to her. After classes were out of course. Wouldn't be any good to cause a ruckus with the kids.
As he said that, the agent came back in. He smirked. "Logan, I'm glad you're up and moving. I think it's time I take Ms. Reilly home now. Hale is inbound and I promised I'd try to keep her out of this as much as possible." Logan nodded. "Thanks, Tim. And Michelle, I promise I won't breath a word of your involvement to the director."

Watching him stumble again gave Michelle quite a start. She took another step forward, pressing one hand against the glass that separated the two of them. Luckily he didn’t fall, and admittedly she sighed softly in relief when he was upright once more. It still really worried her that he was moving around so soon after receiving such serious injuries, but it seemed that he was a stubborn one. Of course he had to have a certain amount of that quality in order to be a hero, she figured. That trait that made someone like him never give up, even when the odds were stacked up against them. She admired that.
It was a relief that the agent came back in to get her before the director came back in. She really didn’t want to get involved in any of this. “Thank you both. I really do appreciate it.” Ideally she wouldn’t have used her power at all today. She just hadn’t been able to help herself when she knew that there was a chance Logan could have been killed. That was not something she could allow to happen. Not when he’d saved her and all her adorable little students.
After turning around to leave, Michelle remembered something that she'd forgotten to say before and turned around quickly. “Sunflower Learning Center! That’s… where I work…” she announced with a bit of a blush before turning back toward the door and allowing the agent named Tim to escort her out of the room. It was a pretty fancy name for a preschool, but they paid better than most too so Michelle was not going to complain. Anyway, she figured that was probably the easiest way for him to find her if he was serious about wanting to see her again.
