Chantelle was married. Her husband was a vigilante. He was the gun toting type and accidentally killed the son of a mafia boss while after a criminal. The mafia boss took out vengeance, and killed Chantelle's husband right in front of her. The mob boss left before his henchmen finished the job, telling them to make sure that the man was dead. They left Chantelle there, her legs both broken and helpless as she watched her husband bleed out. After she was found and treated for her injuries, she took to the streets, learning everything she could to become the vigilante known as Vendetta.
