In all of Eric's life he'd never imagined there could be a moment like this. Standing there at the windows, having just pulled them down but leaving them just cracked enough that the breeze could be felt and the smell of the air after the rain would end would still be there, his mind raced with different scenarios. Try as he might, he couldn't get his mind to shut down, but he found it strangely calming. Having her standing there with him only helped that. He nodded when she said she wasn't in a hurry, and he very nearly laughed out loud when she teased him about the smile. "I can't remember ever having a real reason to keep a smile on my face, or to even let one there," he said with a short sullen look. That look changed back to something resembling a smile afterwards, and he looked back out the window.
They stood there for a few minutes, and even though it seemed a few times that the rain would slow to a halt, it never quite did, at least not enough that they could leave. Eric found that he cared too much to risk her getting sick from not having something to cover her up. He couldn't explain it, but he just couldn't take that chance. Time continued to pass, and it seemed that it was a good thing she wasn't in a hurry, because it looked like the rain wasn't going to stop. Instead, it just kept coming down harder. He really hoped that this wouldn't make her uncomfortable. She already had calmed down quite a bit since they'd met, all things considered. He'd have never imagined at the beginning that they'd have kissed.
'It looks like the rain isn't going to let up. I might be able to find some blankets around her somewhere. There's a bed in that room you can sleep in if you like," he said as he pointed to a half open doorway. "I'll sleep in here in the chair." He didn't mind at all. Hell, he'd slept in much more uncomfortable places. A chair was a king size bed compared to most of them. But most of all he just wanted to be respectful of her. Sure, she'd allowed him to kiss her, twice, but that didn't mean she wanted him in her bed. There really was a gentlemen inside of Eric. Who knew?

It seemed like he was enjoying her presence for the moment, so she stayed next to him as they watched the rain fall. It was hypnotic for Selina. She had very little sense of how much time had passed until she realized it was getting dark. Not just because the thick stormclouds were blocking the sun. It was nighttime now. She found herself trying to remember what time it was that she’d met Eric in that alleyway. Her shopping trip had lasted a few hours, so probably early afternoon. Now it was the evening. It was strange to think how much had changed between them in that short amount of time.
As much as she’d been looking forward to getting home, the weather did not seem like it would permit the travel unless she decided to request a ride. That concept hadn’t even occurred to her before now. It only took her a moment to realize it hadn’t popped into her mind because it would have meant leaving Eric behind. That was something she didn’t want to do, at least not yet. They couldn’t spend the rest of their lives attached at the hip, but she’d been looking forward to the walk back with him and getting to show him where she lived. How would he know where to find her if he needed her? Nope, no car. Waiting until morning would be fine.
He offered to let her use the bed, and Selina smiled. “Nonsense. This is your place. I’m not kicking you out of your own bed.” She couldn’t tell how big the bed was, so maybe sharing was not an option. Or not one that he would be comfortable with. “I can take the chair or the floor, or we both sleep in the bed. Up to you.” Selina gazed up at him expectantly as she waited for him to speak his answer. Maybe it was daring of her to argue with, or even contradict a known killer, but this wasn’t the first time today and he hadn’t seemed to mind before. Not even bat an eyelash, actually. At first she’d been surprised by it, but now it seemed like they were kindred spirits of a sort and their personalities meshed well. Hopefully that would continue being the case.

Rain was always one of the few things that could really soothe the beast within Eric. Just hearing the rhythmic splashes of each droplet gave him a small measure of inner peace that he never thought he could experience. Funny that the woman next to him right now did the same thing for him. He was a monster, a beast, a killer, and there was no denying that. No matter how repentant he was, no matter how much it actually hurt him to do what he did, the fact was that he still did what he did. Every little bit counted when it came to finding some portion of peacefulness. Selina seemed to have that touch, that presence. It calmed the demon. Eric didn't know how it was possible, but he liked it.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, he wasn't sure which honestly, the rain just wasn't going to let up. He was certain he wanted to keep her around, but it really wasn't good for her to be caught up with...well...what he was. She could be implicated in his crimes, and he just couldn't have that. If any harm came to her, especially if it was due to his actions, the rampage that followed would be that of legend. But the heartbreak he would feel would outweigh even that. But waiting until the morning would be the best bet. The rain was too much, and her getting sick also wasn't an option. The only option was to stay here tonight.
Eric shook his head when she said she wasn't kicking him out of his own bed. "You wouldn't be kicking me out. I'm offering it," he answered quickly, before the next statement came out of her mouth. His lower lip shuddered a bit when she said they could both sleep in the bed. He managed to hide that fairly quickly, but she'd probably seen it. His eyes darted away for a moment before he nodded. He walked over to the bed and pulled down the covers, waiting for her to choose which side she would sleep on. "I promise I'll keep my hands to myself," he said slowly. He didn't want to, but it was the right thing to say and to do really. It surprised him that it even mattered to him to do that, to say that. "Shower works if you want to use it," he offered as he sat down on the bed, his back turned to her for a brief moment as he pulled his shirt over his head. He unlaced his boots and set them beside the bed, then lay on his back. "Whatever you need to make you more comfortable, I'll try to get it."

Selina felt like she was starting to be able to read Eric’s facial expressions just a little. It would be an important skill for her to have if she wanted to be around him more. He’d promised not to hurt her, but she knew he couldn’t always control his impulses. Even if he managed to keep his word with regards to her, though, she would need to be able to tell when those mood swings were impending for the sake of other people around them. If he went on another killing spree and got caught, they would be separated. Maybe forever, unless he was able to escape again. Counting on that possibility was not a good idea, though. She needed to know how manageable these urges were, and how to redirect them if it became necessary.
It really was sweet of him to offer her his bed, but she was stubborn on this issue for good or bad. For a moment she thought he might have had something else to say on the matter, but then he resigned and seemed to be willing to do things her way. Without touching her. Selina found herself a little disappointed by that particular promise, but she wasn’t going to argue the point. It was probably for the best if they both kept their hands to themselves, at least for tonight. So instead, she just smiled and nodded her approval. If he was going to behave himself, then so would she. No matter how much she might be tempted to do otherwise.
“You can take the side closer to the window,” she offered. He seemed to like watching the rain, and giving him something to distract him from the fact that she was sharing his bed might be a good thing. Then he mentioned a shower. That was exactly what she needed to warm herself up after getting rained on a little while they were outside. It was always difficult for her to get to sleep when her skin felt cold, even if she was warm on the inside. “That sounds great. Do you… ummm… have a shirt or something I could change into?” She’d bought some clothes earlier in the day, before they’d bumped into each other, but none of that stuff was exactly sleepwear. Still, worst case scenario she could use some of that stuff. He didn’t seem to have much in the way of personal possessions.

This had all been so difficult for Eric. But at the same time it had also been freeing. There was such a mix of emotions going on through his head that he almost felt human again. And the funniest thing was the simple fact that he had zero impulse to hurt her. He found that it would hurt him if she were to ever come to any harm. It was odd, of course, as he never had any sort of feelings like this before, not towards any one specific person. Selina had brought out the good in him though, despite his darkness. She had fought through that darkness and turned on the light. He'd never believed that anyone could make him feel anything other than pain. But she had. It was way too early to call it love, but it was something of the sort. And the serial killer liked it.
Offering her the bed had just seemed the right impulse. It seemed the right thing to do. But promising to keep his hands to himself, though also the right thing to do, brought a bit of sadness to him again. Who wouldn't want their hands all over her? She was fucking gorgeous. He absolutely wanted to, but it just wouldn't be right for him to act on that. Would it?
He nodded when she offered the side by the window. He did enjoy watching the rain, and he was fairly sure he wouldn't get a lot of sleep. No, his mind was going to be a cavalcade of what ifs and what the fucks tonight. Sitting on the bed already, he moved to the side facing the window, and took a deep breath. His head lowered, but he was okay, a small smile on his face. He looked up when she asked about something to change into, and his face wrinkled up into an expression of thought. He stood and went to the closet. "I think I have something." He knelt down at the closet door, where a small suitcase rested on the floor. He kept one at all of his little hideaways. But this one was of the few that he used the most, so luckily he had more clothes here. Let's see, jeans, jeans, boxers, socks, sleeveless t-shirt.... He pulled each item out and tossed them aside. More jeans, boxers, boxers, socks, flannel shirt. He picked up the sleeveless t-shirt and the flannel shirt and stood back up. "I don't know which you'd be more comfortable in, but you can use whichever you want to."

It was interesting watching him go through his clothes to try to find something appropriate to fulfill her request. He really did live off basically the bare minimum if those were the only real clothes he owned. Wait, he’d said he had multiple hiding places throughout the city, hadn’t he? So he might have more stashed away in those places. Still though, it wasn’t much. Two options for sleeping clothing were presented to her, and Selina took a moment to make her decision. The t-shirt looked comfortable. It probably looked really great on Eric too, now that she’d had the chance to see the body he’d been hiding under all those clothes. She couldn’t let herself get too carried away with those kinds of thoughts, though. At least, not for now. He’d promised to keep his hands to himself tonight, and she wanted to encourage him to keep his word. Fuck though, he really was gorgeous. And complicated. A puzzle she was absolutely dying to solve. It was a dangerous game she was playing, and she knew that. That was part of what made it so exciting.
Focus, Selina. T-shirt or flannel? T-shirt looked comfortable, but it was a little chilly tonight. If Eric really was going to keep his hands to himself, she might be better off with the warmer garment. There would still be heat exchanged between their two bodies since they would be laying together on the same small bed, but it wouldn’t be the same as if they were actually cuddling or… whatever… Anyway, she reached out and took the flannel shirt from his hand. “Thanks!”
The bathroom was much like the rest of the small apartment. Simple. Perfectly functional, with all the necessities, but nothing really beyond that. The shower felt great, though. At least the water got hot. Sometimes the other girls at the sorority house used so much hot water from taking such long showers that there was barely anything left by the time Selina got in there. She’d taken lukewarm or cool showers on several occasions. Once she was clean and all warmed up, she took a towel off the rack and quickly dried off before slipping on the garment he’d given her. The soft fabric dropped down to her upper thighs. Long enough to cover all the important areas, but not by much. Hopefully that wouldn’t bother him. It was only a few minutes before she was back in Eric’s room and sliding under the covers of his bed.

She chose the flannel. That made sense. It would help keep her warm as the night inevitably got colder. The bed only had a thin sheet on it, since that night Eric had woken up from a horrible nightmare and torn the blanket with his knife. He would have to buy a new one....or steal one, it didn't matter which. He just wanted her to be warm tonight. So with that, he was glad that she chose the flannel shirt. Damn, she looked good in it though. It was hard for him to look away, but he had to force himself to do so. He didn't want to make her uncomfortable. But he was certain that she'd caught him staring anyway. Somehow he knew he wasn't quick enough to avert his gaze. He was sure, though, that he did manage to hide the extending bulge in his shorts quickly enough by sliding under the covers and laying in the fetal position. Luckily, he had already closed the window. The rain could still be heard pounding against the walls though, and he knew that the place would get really cold. It was an older building, and very drafty.
"Let me know if you need anything. It's going to get really cold tonight, I think." Having turned away from her, his back to her, he kept his left arm out over the sheet, his fingers fiddling with the edge. He lay there for a long while, sleep never coming quickly to him, and just allowed himself to think. Never had he allowed himself to think of someone this way, at least not so quickly. He'd only known her for one night, after all. But she was already in. Eric also knew that the quickest way to get a woman to forget about you is to tell her how you feel about her. So letting her know he was feeling something was out of the question. He'd shared enough of his past, and enough of how he felt, as this night had progressed. It was funny how he'd gone from aggressor to such a puppy. Well, others might find it funny. Eric wasn't sure that he did.
The night passed on, and just as he'd known it would, got colder. Eric finally pulled his arm under the sheet, but that would only help so much. Some people said that they were used to the cold, but you never truly got that used to it. They were only human, after all. Eric turned over a time or two from his side to his back and back to his side. He found it hard to get comfortable, and he could tell that she was finding it equally difficult. "Are you okay?" he whispered as he turned to his side, facing her back now. He almost reached out to touch her hip, but pulled his hand back, remembering his promise.

Selina crawled into the bed next to him, turning away so their backs were facing each other. This was going to be difficult. The bed was not very big, so they were basically on the edge of either side in an effort to not touch each other. It was a good thing she tended to be a pretty still sleeper. One roll in the wrong direction and she would end up on the floor. Not that that would be the end of the world. Mostly just embarrassing when you weren’t the only person in the bed. Eric probably wouldn’t think any less of her if she were to do something like that, but she would rather avoid it if at all possible.
As the night grew colder, Selina tried to hug herself to stay warmer. The flannel shirt definitely helped, but not having a blanket made things difficult. Maybe Eric was one of those people who was always overheated and didn’t need additional covering to sleep. Lucky him, if so. It still sounded like he was having some trouble drifting off, though. Maybe that was normal for him? She tried to stay as still as possible at first, not wanting to be a source of discomfort for him, but she still shivered. Apparently he’d seen that, because he’d now turned toward her and spoken. At this point, Selina had a couple of options. She could lie, tell him she was completely fine. She could complain about the cold, which would probably make him feel bad for not being able to provide a better shelter. Or, she could provide the solution. That was the best option, she decided as she turned to face him.
“It’s cold. Here, we’ll both be warmer this way,” she said before curling up next to him and laying her head on his chest. Technically, she’d never promised not to touch him so this was okay, right? It was just the other way around, and she hadn’t even asked him to make that promise. If he broke it now she definitely wasn’t going to complain. Making sure he was comfortable was the most important thing, though. He may have calmed somewhat over the course of the last few hours, but he was still a very dangerous man with an unpredictable trigger. Selina would be an idiot if she took anything, including her own safety, for granted. “Is this okay?” she asked, looking up at him to make sure he wasn’t agitated.

This was.....odd. Laying in a bed with a woman wasn't something that Eric had never done, but laying in bed with a woman that he was actually starting to care about was. It was a smaller bed, and he knew that at some point during the night they'd end up touching one another, accidental or not. He knew that the cold was probably going to be the cause of that too. He hadn't exactly planned this, or even really thought it through. She turned towards him and curled up next to him. That in itself sent a shiver down his spine, but a good shiver. He was still calm, despite her touching him. At least for now. "Yeah, it's okay," he answered, moving his arm to wrap over her waist. Eric was no white knight, but this was a protective thing, and he knew she'd see that.
It wasn't long before they were both laying there, steadily getting closer as the night moved on. Eric still had trouble getting completely comfortable, but he wasn't really uncomfortable either. It was much warmer having her curled up with him, and he noted that she wasn't shivering as much either. That was good. The sheets only did so much. Sleep was slowly starting to overtake him, but that was before he noted some tension in his lower region. In their moving around her leg had crossed over his. It wasn't a bad thing, of course. It felt great, but he knew that she'd feel him starting to get aroused. There was no hiding it.
"I'm sorry," he whispered softly. It was a natural thing, of course, but he didn't want her to think that he looked at her like that. But how couldn't he? She was gorgeous, beautiful, every possible word that meant physically attractive. And she seemed to understand him, or at the very least wanted to. His arm had already wrapped around her waist, but his hand had remained away from her skin. He broke the promise then, as his fingertips brushed against her back. His eyes fluttered closed for a brief moment and then reopened. There really was no hiding it now, rock hard and at attention.

It was so much warmer with Eric curled up next to her. Selina quickly found herself dozing off. In that dozing, she probably shifted around a little more trying to get even more comfortable. Sleep had nearly claimed her when his voice pulled her back to consciousness. Her eyelids fluttered open and she looked at him questioningly. At least, until she figured out what he was apologizing for. Well not so much figured it out as felt it. Poor guy. How long had it been for him since he’d been with a woman? Felt anything touch him other than his own hands? Of course having her pressed against him like that would cause a reaction like that.
“Don’t apologize. It’s my fault, so I’ll take care of it, okay?” Her hand moved slowly downward from his chest until it slipped beneath his pants and found what it was looking for. She was a little nervous, actually. He seemed to care about her, but he was still a killer with unpredictable mood swings. There was the promise that he wouldn’t hurt her. That definitely helped to comfort her in this situation. Still, passion could be unpredictable. It could go well for her, or very badly if that switch went off in his brain. It was a chance she was willing to take, at least for now.
After taking a moment to kiss him on the cheek, she slipped her head under the sheet. His erection was throbbing in her hand now that it had been released from the confines of his boxers. She started slowly, letting her tongue and lips caress his length gently before taking the tip inside her mouth completely. Her head bobbed slowly up and down as she worked her way into a rhythm. How in the world had she managed to get herself in a situation like this? Even she wasn’t really sure. All she knew was that she wanted to do this for him. To bring him as much pleasure as possible. Everything else she had to think about could wait until the morning.
